The Reno Fire Department is facing layoffs for 25% of its firefighters due to not receiving the SAFER grant this year. If the Reno city council does not change the budget to help fund the department, 35 firefighters will be laid off on July 1, and three stations will be browned out.

I have started a petition to urge our city council members to prevent these layoffs. We have just over 2,700 signatures with a goal of 5,000 by May 1 (when the layoff notices will be sent out officially). I am reaching out to media outlets and groups now to help the petition gain exposure.
