CITY OF SPARKS NEWS RELEASE

image0011-300x131-6711831-6164139Join Mayor Geno Martini, the Sparks City Council and the Truckee River Flood Management Authority for a groundbreaking event commencing construction on the North Truckee Drain at 11 a.m today.  This project represents an important milestone for the city of Sparks and the regional flood project.

Water from as far north as the Spanish Springs Valley flows into the North Truckee Drain during storm events.  The Truckee River will be realigned to direct the drain further downstream of the Truckee River to east of Vista Boulevard. This critical step will reduce flooding to the Sparks industrial area.

The groundbreaking event will mark the beginning of Phase 1 of the North Truckee Drain relocation project.

The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the end of Larkin Circle in Sparks.  To attend the event, access Larkin Circle east of Greg Street, just south of the I-80 overpass at Greg Street.
