ron_burgundy-300x249-5850918-4627112SUBMITTED NEWS–Reno continues to build a reputation as the pub crawl capital of the U.S. with the addition this year of a new Valentine’s Day tradition. There are already annual events held in downtown where participants dress as creeper Santa Claus’es, zombies, even creepier superheroes and pirates and leprechauns. A new event on Saturday, February 15 encourages revelers instead to wear what they sleep in.

As for why they chose a pajama theme, organizers said that it was the most comfortable thing they could imagine going out drinking in. Official wording from the event website, according to the person who manages the event website, suggested costume ideas that range from footie pajamas with Star Wars or Anchor Man themes to bath robes. Even the latest styles from Victoria’s Secret for the more daring (or narcissistic -ed.).

Just as with Reno’s other crawls, the event takes place in downtown bars featuring specials on beer and drinks. Participants can take part by purchasing a commemorative cup and map now on sale at Junkee Clothing Exchange at 960 South Virginia Street and on the night of the event at the starting location, Waterfall Bar at 134 West 2nd Street.

In addition to individual costume contests held at each bar, there will also be a $500 costume contest which crawlers can enter by getting their picture taken at Waterfall. Organizers also want the public to know that their Valentine’s Vampire Crawl has not been staked in the heart, but has been only moved to a warmer date in May.
