The newly planted vineyard at the University of Nevada’s Main Station Field Laboratory is expanding.

Nevada Vines and Wines, the non profit partnering with the University, has launched a Kickstarter campaign seeking community support for the vineyard’s expansion.

The group said:

“We have a great opportunity to build a wine industry in Nevada, and Kickstarter viewers can help us make it happen! The University of Nevada, Reno made 7 acres of land available to our non-profit organization, Nevada Vines and Wines. More land is available.  In partnership with UNR, Nevada Vines and Wines wants to build a wine industry for Nevada.

“With this land we will create a commercial-scale vineyard that will eventually produce 30 to 50 tons of grapes that we will make into fine wine. In addition to planting the vineyard, our long term goal is to build a winery and wine tasting room…. With your donations we will be able to purchase the vines, trellises, and irrigation system for the next acre of our vineyard.”
