WASHOE COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
Washoe County has released its citizen oriented annual financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2013. The majority of the report focuses on financial information and is also intended to show the vital role County government plays as a resource to citizens and businesses.
Known as the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR), the eight page update provides a snapshot of Washoe County’s finances including the fact that no budget or service level reductions were required over the past fiscal year for the first time since 2008. Other information includes:
- Financial summary and cost of County government
- Recent countywide accomplishments
- County property taxes
- 2014 budget
The PAFR is available online, at main offices of the Washoe County Administrative Complex on 1001 E. Ninth St. and at all Washoe County libraries.
“In addition to providing an overall financial picture, this report is an excellent overall review of what Washoe County has accomplished over the past fiscal year,” said Acting Finance Director/Comptroller Cynthia Washburn.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) gave an Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting to Washoe County for its PAFR last year. This prestigious national award recognizes conformance with the highest standards for preparation of state and local government popular reports.
