A pedestrian died after he was hit by a car last night at the intersection of Oddie Boulevard and Sutro Street in northeast Reno.
Reno Police officers were summoned to the intersection at about 6:15 pm after a 60-year-old man was struck by a car and seriously injured. He was transported to a local hospital where he died.
Officers learned that he was crossing on the east side of the intersection when he was struck by an eastbound car which hurled him a considerable distance. It was unclear whether he was in the crosswalk, but he was suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol.
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and did not appear to have been impaired. The Reno Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and is continuing to investigate the crash. The identities of both men are being withheld at this time.
