SIERRA SAGE NEWS — Sierra Sage Golf Course’s Head Professional and General Manager Mike Mazzaferri will again attempt to play 100 holes of golf in one day as he participates in this year’s Northern California PGA Chapter’s 100 Holes Challenge on Monday, Sept. 23. The Challenge was established by local PGA professionals to raise money for local community programs and charities through the Northern California PGA Foundation.

“We raised nearly $7,000 last year and this time we are shooting for more than $7,500,” Mazzaferri said. “I’m calling on golfers and golf fans this year to pledge their support as we strive to reach a goal of $100,000 for the Northern California PGA Foundation and their charities.”

Charities benefitting from this program include Saving Strokes, a golf fitness and training program for stroke victims, Folds of Honor which empowers deserving military families with educational support and opportunities, the Jim Langley Scholarship Fund supporting and encouraging continuing education by assisting students with post secondary schooling scholarships and the Special Olympics.

The local charity chosen by Mazzaferri is the Sierra Sage Men’s Golf Club Charity Fund, which provides college scholarships and support to junior and high golf school programs.

Donors can sponsor Mazzaferri with either a flat fee or a certain amount per hole. This pledge is 100% tax deductible through the NCPGA Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization.

A simple web page to make your donation can be found by clicking to http://www.pgagolfday.com/sections/northern-california/2013/players/mike-mazzaferri/

Donations can also be made at the Sierra Sage Golf Course Pro Shop.

“I really need and appreciate your support. I assure you, your pledge will go a long way in our efforts to benefit the many local community programs and charitable organizations supported by the NCPGA Foundation and our own Sierra Sage Men’s Golf Club,” Mazzaferri said .
