City of Reno to host Olympic style games for senior citizens

seniorgames-300x128-8010642-1573753The Reno-Tahoe Senior Summer Games is a program dedicated to promoting and implementing fitness programs and activities for people 50 years and older. The event takes place June 19 through June 30.

The games offer participants more than 20 individual and team competitions. Participants compete within age groups to win gold, silver and bronze medals.

The sports include archery, baggo, badminton, dance marathon, fitness, go kart road race, horseshoes, miniature golf, pickleball, skeet and trap shoot, speed golf, swimming, table tennis, track and field, walk race (1M/3M) and weightlifting. Competitions are grouped into men’s, women’s, coed or mixed doubles categories.

The registration fee is $15 and covers the opening ceremony lunch, closing ceremony dance, water bottle, T-shirt and tote bag. There is a $5 per sport fee, which includes multiple events within a sport. Some sports such as archery and trap shooting have additional fees.
