NEVADA WOMEN’S EXPO NEWS RELEASE The 11th Annual Nevada Women’s Expo, our region’s premier weekend designed for women, takes place on March 23-24, 2013 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center. The event features an appearance by “Twilight” star Peter Facinelli, who will help promote women’s awareness of the need for blood in our community and the role blood services plays in healthcare delivery for women.

“Females received 53 percent of blood transfusions,” said Lindsey Baker, Donor Recruitment Supervisor at United Blood Services, sponsor of the Nevada Women’s Expo. “For every one donor, the lives of three patients can be saved. One in three people will require a blood transfusion during their lifetime. Patients treated for cancer, newborns in the intensive care unit, and trauma victims are just a few examples who rely on blood transfusions. The Nevada Women’s Expo is a perfect place to raise awareness of the need for donors as women come to the event seeking knowledge regarding health and fitness topics.”
Special guest Peter Facinelli [“Dr. Carlisle Cullen”] of the “Twilight Saga” fame will be attending the expo on Saturday, March 23. Facinelli will participate in a VIP Meet and Greet starting at 12:30 p.m. with the first 50 people who pre-register and present to donate blood at the expo between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. Attendees can pre-register to donate blood at www.bloodhero.com and enter sponsor code WomensExpo or by calling 775-324-6454. Facinelli will be on hand for professional picture taking with fans from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. for only $15.00 per picture taken by the show photographer. Space is limited and pre-registration is highly recommended at www.NevadaWomensExpo.com. Facinelli will be available to autograph attendee’s DVDs and other items at no charge, as time allows. Schedule is subject to change.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Peter to the Nevada Women’s Expo,” said Kristy Hawke, event producer. “Mothers and daughters can live out a fantasy and share the experience of meeting the star, while learning about the important role they can play by donating blood.”
The Nevada Women’s Expo features over 200 exhibits featuring health, fashion, beauty, fitness, home décor, careers, financial planning, education, a female authors pavilion, non-profit organizations and much more. Admission includes an array of complimentary services, including health screenings such as Body Mass Index (BMI) and blood pressure, provided by sponsor Northern Nevada Medical Center, as well as back and neck physical therapy, health education, free makeovers and massages. Editorial: Downtown desperation

The lipstick-on-a-pig comment gets uttered not infrequently when it comes to the rabid tenor adopted by local electeds and their boosters when they speak of downtown Reno.
