The Financial Stability Partnership of Northern Nevada hosts 2012 Financial Fitness Fair

The Financial Stability Partnership of Northern Nevada (FSPNN) will host its inaugural Financial Fitness Fair of 2012 on Jan. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows located at 2680 E. Ninth St. in Reno.

The event will offer free tax preparation to individuals and families earning less than $50,000 per year using IRS certified volunteers. Spanish-speaking translators will be available and no appointment is necessary to participate.

In addition to tax preparation, families will be able to learn more about budgeting and smart money skills, credit reports, housing assistance, utility assistance, energy savings, employment services and more. Families will also have access to one-on-one meetings with certified credit councilors as well as several banking institutions will be available to help open accounts.

“The Financial Fitness Fair was made possible by the FSPNN’s dedicated volunteers. Thanks to their efforts many hard-working Nevadans will have an opportunity to build a better financial future for themselves and their families,” said Karen Barsell, CEO and President of United Way of Northern Nevada and the Sierra. “This event is a great opportunity to get your taxes filed as well as learn more about financial strategies and available resources within our community.”
