SENATE REPUBLICAN CAUCUS NEWS RELEASE
FALLON – The Nevada Senate Republican Caucus today endorsed attorney Mark A. Hutchison of Las Vegas for State Senate District 6 in the northwest valley.
“Mark Hutchison is a small business owner who understands the difficulties facing Nevada’s innovators and job creators,” said Senate Minority Leader Mike McGinness of Fallon. “He’ll work hard to put Nevadans back to work and get our economy back on track.”
The current makeup of the Nevada State Senate leaves the Republican Party just one seat short of becoming the majority. Sen. Michael Roberson of Henderson was appointed in June to serve as chairman of the caucus’ campaign efforts.
“Mark Hutchison is someone all Nevadans can put their faith in,” Roberson said. “For years he’s been defending Nevada’s sovereignty against the unconstitutionality of Obamacare, and he’s doing it free of charge to the people of Nevada. Mark will have no problem transitioning from the courtroom to the statehouse, fighting laws and regulations that would hamper Nevada’s economic growth. He’s a man of action and will be a great addition to the State Senate.”
Hutchison received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Brigham Young University where he earned the high distinction of Order of the Coif and served as Lead-‐Articles Editor of the Law Review. Following law school, he clerked for the Honorable Kenneth F. Ripple of the United States Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals located in Chicago. After his clerkship, he practiced for the national law firm of Kirkland & Ellis in both Chicago and Los Angeles. In 1992, he returned to Las Vegas and in 1996 co-founded Hutchison & Steffen, a major law firm in Nevada.
Hutchison is the senior partner in Hutchison & Steffen and has over 20 years experience in litigation. Mark is also a family man. He loves spending time with his wife, Cary, and their six children. Despite his very busy schedule, Hutchison takes time to coach their sporting teams and lead their Boy Scout program.
