RENO SPARKS CHAMBER NEWS RELEASE

Applications are now being accepted for the Leadership Reno Sparks (LRS) 2012 Adult and Youth Programs at www.RenoSparksChamber.org/Leadership.  The deadline to submit applications for the adult and youth program’s is December 1.

About the LRS Adult Program
The Adult LRS program develops leaders through a comprehensive program designed to increase the knowledge and awareness of issues and challenges facing our community.  Topics ranging from Truckee Meadows Economy to Arts and Culture of Northern Nevada are covered in a nine-month series of all-day workshops.  In addition to the educational element, participants work together to develop and execute a community service project.  Previous projects include: Makeover at Hug High School, adopting Florence Drake Elementary School to beautify and improve their library and the revamp of the Health Access Washoe County’s (HAWC) pediatric waiting room for their newly expanded Pediatric Clinic.

The program fee is $1,750 for Chamber members; $2,100 for non-members.  The program, which is celebrating its 28th Anniversary, begins January 19, 2012 with a mandatory overnight retreat.  Started in 1985, the adult program boasts 969 of alumni.  For more information visit www.RenoSparksChamber.org/Leadership.

About the LRS Youth Program
Modeled after the highly successful adult LRS program, the prestigious youth program enhances the leadership skills and community awareness of local high schoolers.  There is no cost to the students, as all actual in-kind costs are covered by members and sponsors of The Chamber of Commerce, Washoe County School District and Education Alliance.  As with the adult program, the teens identify a community service project to support during their four month curriculum.  The youth program will begin on January 12, 2012 with a Parent/Student orientation.  For more information visit www.RenoSparksChamber.org/Leadership.  The Chamber offers a powerful combination of business leads, access to business and political leaders, pro-business advocacy, leadership development, savings opportunities, and programs targeted to the interests of its members.
