Coalition to press for end to pipeline

SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE

(LAS VEGAS, Nev.) – A coalition of national and statewide environmental and consumer groups, together with small businesses from Las Vegas, will hold a press conference Monday, Nov. 28, to show their opposition to the proposed export of 41 billion gallons of water annually from rural Nevada and Utah to Southern Nevada.

The press conference will feature business representatives, organizations and elected leaders who oppose the Southern Nevada Water Authority pipeline project as unnecessary, expensive and environmentally catastrophic. More than 1,000 collected statements for the state engineer will be presented. Participants will be available for interview.

WHERE: Nevada Conservation League, 817 S. Main St., Las Vegas. (Weather permitting, the press conference will be outside in the parking area.)

WHEN: 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28.

WHO: Elected leadership, representatives from local businesses, national and statewide organizations. Participating groups include:  Food & Water Watch, Great Basin Water Network, Nevada Conservation League, the Toiyabe Chapter of the Sierra Club, Change.org, National Parks Conservation Association, Center for Biological Diversity, Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada, Southern Nevada Residents for Responsible Growth and ProgressNow Nevada.
