Representatives from the City of Reno, Washoe County, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service , United States Forest Service, Weather Service, University of Nevada, Reno Cooperative Extension, State of Nevada Division of Forestry, United States Department of Fish and Wildlife, Nevada Land Conservancy, Sierra Fire Protection District, North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District and Truckee Meadows Regional Water Authority began preparations on Monday, November 21, to address potential immediate erosion control and flooding concerns and prepare for the long term restoration effort of the area affected by the Caughlin Fire. Public Safety officials and rehabilitation crews will be visiting the sites starting next week and through December.
If an area needs immediate attention to prevent erosion and flooding, mitigation measures will be addressed by public works crews. Residents in the affected area are encouraged to contact 775.352.4249 to report active erosion or flooding over the long holiday weekend (Thursday, November 24th through November 27th). If it is a life threatening emergency call 9-1-1. Additional restoration planning survey teams will continue working in the area starting next week.
Public safety and rehabilitation crews will be on site throughout the week. However, if you notice any activity in the area that seems suspicious, please call 9-1-1.
