Carson City is becoming Nevada’s solar city with the addition of 195,000 square feet of solar arrays built at five sites throughout the Carson City School district. The culmination of which unveils Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 2:30 p.m. behind Carson High School. The Carson High School solar site boasts five-acres of photovoltaic panels and is Nevada’s largest site-servicing solar project to date.
The project came to fruition with a partnership between the Carson City School District and Reno’s Hamilton Solar, Inc. Hamilton Solar has installed 9,604 photovoltaic solar panels in Carson City, enough to cover three football fields. Carson High School’s one-megawatt solar farm is projected to save the Carson School District approximately $200,000 annually.
The ribbon cutting ceremony takes place Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 2:30 p.m. and is open to the public. The Carson High School band and choir will prelude the unveiling. The color guard will perform the presentation of colors as we salute progressive ingenuity. Renewable resources and environmental groups are welcome to attend and support the project.
