SUBMITTED NEWS RELEASE
Sharron Angle (R-NV), a former state legislator running to replace Senator Harry Reid (D-NV), issued a statement calling for a public release of the results of a GOP senatorial straw poll that was conducted in Clark County on January 19 as part of a voter questionnaire.
“It’s been over 3 weeks since the vote was conducted,” said Angle. “The fastest way to stop voter cynicism and to gain trust about the process is to be as open as possible. If people cast a vote, the votes should be counted and published and not hidden away.”
Angle spokesman Jerry Stacy said the Angle campaign was informed by a news reporter this week about a report circulating that the chair of the Clark County Republican Central Committee was pressured by another senatorial campaign to withhold the results.
“Frankly, I have no idea why a release of the poll is being delayed, and I am not interested in perpetuating hearsay,” Stacy said. “All I’m saying is that Mrs. Angle believes that the voters have a right to be heard. The Angle campaign is asking for a public release of the numbers, and I will trust that all other candidates would be just as cooperative in requesting an open process.”
