With the win, Nevada improved to 4-8 overall and 1-0 in WAC play, while Utah State, who was picked to win the WAC in 2009 by the leagues coaches, fell to 5-7-1 overall and 0-1 in the WAC.

Ratnavira scored the game’s only goal in the 36th minute as she beat two defenders down the left side of the field and cut in towards goal. Utah State keeper Molli Merrill had the near post covered but Ratnavira beat Merrill to the back post for the game winner.

The Aggies had two attempts during the game that hit off the crossbar. In the 17th minute, Jill Erickson’s left-footed shot forced Merrill to make a diving save.

Nevada keepers Marie Cove, who made the start, and Dana Moreno, combined for the shutout. Cove made three saves while Moreno made two. Merrill made one for Utah State.

The Aggies outshot the Pack 14-4 in the match including a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal.

Nevada will play its next two games on the road playing at Idaho on Friday at 3 p.m. and at Boise State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
