BLM NEWS RELEASE:

ELKO — Life along the California Trail meant water was much more than relief for a parched throat. On Wednesday, November 4 at 7 p.m. at the California Trail Center, Great Basin Institute intern David Low will continue his series of talks about the most basic elements of life on the California Trail with “Water of Life”.

The talk will focus on how water defined the lives of overland emigrants as a staff of life, a means of navigation, a useful tool, and as a source of peril. You will go home with a new appreciation for the bridges we use every day, and the clear, clean water that tumbles from your tap!

The California Trail Center, operated by the Bureau of Land Management is eight miles west of Elko at the Hunter Exit 292. The Trail Center and its meeting room are available to school groups and other organizations on a prearranged basis. For more information about this talk or the California Trail Center call Gary Koy at (775) 934-2467.
