Elko Trail Center

BLM news release:

ELKO — The California Trail Center is hosting a Trail-Camp Dance from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18 as part of the “History on the Humboldt” series. Celebrate like the emigrants did with an evening of traditional contra-dancing. Learn traditional American dances like the Virginia Reel and round dances with live music by Elko’s own South Wind band and a professional dance caller from Salt Lake City. The dance is free and open to the public. Dancers of all ages are welcome, so bring your dancing shoes.

The California Trail Center, operated by the Bureau of Land Management, is eight miles west of Elko at Hunter Exit 292. The trail center is scheduled to open on a regular basis next summer. Until then, the trail center is available to school groups and other organizations on a pre-arranged basis. For more information about the Trail-Camp Dance or the California Trail Center, please call Gary Koy at 775-934-2467.
