State Parks news release:
CARSON CITY, Nev. — Permits go on sale September 12, 2009 for the Nevada Division of State Parks’ annual wood sale. The sale starts at 8 a.m. at the State Library and Archives building located at 100 N. Stewart Street. Permits are $50 (cash or check only) per cord and are limited to two cords per address/family.
Approximately 230 permits are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The sale will end once all permits are sold.
The pick-up schedule will be between September 18 through October 4.
Available pick-up locations will be at the North Canyon area near Spooner Lake and in the vicinity of Hobart Reservoir via Lakeview Road.
Approximately 30 cords are available in the Spooner Lake area in an accessible location, and four-wheel drive vehicles are strongly suggested.
Approximately 200 cords of wood is available near Hobart Reservoir and four-wheel drive vehicles are mandatory. Trailers are allowed at both locations.
The wood consists of a mixture of pine and fir, some seasoned and some green. Most of the wood is approximately 18 inches, although some odd sized and large rounds are possible.
The wood is cut by Nevada Division of Forestry conservation crews as part of forest health efforts in Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park.
