RENO, Nev. (Feb. 17, 2016) — On Saturday February 20, the Reno Homebuyer Team will provide home buyers with the tools they need to both understand and overcome the current housing shortage and purchase the home of their dreams.
In recent months, high interest rates and a lack affordable housing inventories have kept some home buyers from entering the market
“It’s important for people to understand the market, not be intimidated by it,” said Sam Britt, mortgage lending expert with iServe Residential and member of The Reno Homebuyer Team. “The housing market will see a huge surge this year, and home buyers should absolutely consider initiating their home buying process before buying conditions further decline and prices increase. Saturday’s event will help them do just that.”
At this free event, Britt and his team will guide attendees through the following steps to ensure homebuying success:
Identifying county and state grants
The state of Nevada offers numerous grants that homebuyers should take advantage of. CJ Manthe, Nevada Housing Division Administrator and member of the The Reno Homebuyer Team, will identify grants that are applicable to individual attendees – such as the “Home is Possible” down payment assistance program.
Earning your Homebuying License
State and country grants, like the “Home is Possible” down payment assistance program, require a homebuying license for qualification. The Reno Homebuying Team will issue the necessary certification at the seminar.
Addressing your student loans
A common barrier that many homebuyers face is applying for a mortgage with existing student debt. The Reno Homebuyer Team will walk buyers through several strategies to address such barriers.
Understanding your credit
Britt will show attendees how to budget for the lending process, including how to identify unique credit solutions for clients based on mortgage pre-qualifications that include rent-to-buy scenarios.
Beating the bubble
Recent economic developments like the Tesla gigafactory and Jet.com’s fulfillment center are projected to increase housing demand as they bring new jobs to the area. Angelica Reyes, realtor with REMAX and member of The Reno Homebuyer Team, will show seminar attendees how they can still find their dream home in the current low inventory conditions.
