The Space Whale in downtown Reno is starting to come together today as a crane lifts the sections into place. We also get a sneak-peek at the making of the whale.
This portion of the installation will be finished tomorrow (Thursday), and then the next step of installing the glass panels will start. There are somewhere around 1,700 individual panels to be installed.
The erection of the Space Whale should be complete Sunday. This ambitious piece of art will add to the artistic statement that Reno is making.
The Space Whale is paid for out of the city’s portion of room tax funds that go into the city’s arts budget.
