Reno-FirefightersEarlier this month, the local community donated over $60,000 to the Reno Firefighters Association International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 731’s annual Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Boot Drive. Funds will go towards sending local children and young adults affected by muscle debilitating disease to MDA Summer Camp.

These camps, held throughout the country every year, seek to give children and young adults an amazing targeted experience they may have without the support of the MDA. For more than 60 years the IAFF has sought to help those battling muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other muscle-related diseases. This year’s local boot drive will also help provide services for 500 families affected in our area.

“This year we more than doubled our goal of simply beating last years’ total of $28,000, more than we ever could have expected. We just want to thank our community for their contributions, this fund raising event would not be possible without their enormous generosity,” said Jennifer Rowan, IAFF Local 731 MDA Chair.
