andrew-vitaleThe Reno Police Department (RPD) said Andrew Vitale, 28 of Reno, was arrested yesterday after responding to a call on a domestic disturbance on Dickerson Road.

“When officers met with the victims they were told … Vitale … chased both victims out of the house armed with a knife while threatening to kill them,” Police said. “Vitale was able to catch one of the victims and punch him numerous times.”

Officers contacted Vitale on the back porch of his apartment, but he was armed with a knife and locked himself inside his apartment, according to police. “(He) hurled numerous throwing knives at officers through an open bedroom window.”

Police took Vitale into custody after about two hours, and he fought with offices upon arrest, police said. He had to be tasered.

There were no serious injuries as a result of the incident.
