Copper Cat Studio will be opening in Midtown Reno at 20 St. Lawrence Avenue in late January. Local mosaic and mural artist, Katie Packham, welcomes the public to attend a Grand Opening Celebration at her new studio on Friday, January 29th from 3:00 til 7:00 p..m.

In addition to serving as her work-space, the Copper Cat Studio will feature a retail store where Packham’s art and that of select other local artists can be purchased. Packham will also be offering a variety of art classes for artists of all skill levels.

“When the former tenants left, there was no longer a place in Midtown for people to come and create art,” said Packham, who has been working as a mural artist in Reno for 17 years and a mosaic artist for 9 years. “Every great city neighborhood has an element of art in it, and I am so excited to be able to bring my artistic specialty—mosaics—to Midtown.”

Midtown business owners are thrilled to have another local entrepreneur in their fold. “I think this adds a great vibe to the neighborhood because it will bring people down to Midtown to do something besides just eat or shop. This is an activity that will keep people coming back and create more foot traffic for all of the businesses here,” said Beth Carter, who owns Crème Café next door to Copper Cat Studio.

“Finding this location in Midtown is like a dream come true. I am so excited to be a part of the redevelopment and artistic awakening of this area,” said Packham.
