CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Nevada State Museum celebrates National Coin Week with special activities April 24 and 25 at the museum, 660 N. Carson St. in Carson City. The event is free with admission to the museum, $8 adults and free for those ages 17 and younger.

Historic Coin Press No. 1 will operate from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3:30 p.m. both days. The press will mint silver medallions for sale to the public. Volunteer Ken Hopple will operate the press and give demonstrations both days. Members of the Reno Coin Club, which co-sponsors the weekend activities, will present programs on unique and rare coins from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. The club also will present its quarter and dollar exchange and will give away foreign coins to young adults. Experts will be on hand to answer questions on numismatics (the study or collection of currency). Free educational materials will be available at the coin press.

National Coin Week began April 19 and will run through April 25. This year’s theme is “Building Tomorrows: Inspiration and Innovation at World’s Fairs.”
