Urban Roots is hosting its third volunteer day open to the community on January 17 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The event will be held at four school gardens, including Mount Rose K-8, Bordewich Bray, Carson City Middle School and at the Urban Roots demonstration farm. Events take place from 10 am to about 1pm.

Community members can join Urban Roots’ AmeriCorps members in helping schools complete tasks such as garden clean-up, building new raised beds, turning compost and helping to get the raised beds ready for spring planting.

For starting times at each location, visit Urban Roots’ Facebook page or contact [email protected].
