Operated by mother-daughter team, Lori and Kimberly Johnson, The Sugar Bug is self-proclaimed as serving “the best chocolate chip cookies in town.”

While The Sugar Bug offers a variety of fresh-baked goods, the Johnson’s said they emphasized their love for the classic cookie. The Sugar Bug offers spin-offs of classic treats such as the original “pookie,” a combination of sweet popcorn and cookies.

Lori Johnson, lead baker and owner of The Sugar Bug, said her passion for cookies has allowed a hobby that began at home with her daughter to grow into a successful business.

“We’re so excited about the success we’ve had so far and we can’t wait to keep growing,” Johnson said. “Welcoming new and returning customers is always a joy and we hope that all will share in our love for cookies.”

The Sugar Bug also offers custom ordering for each of its bakery selections and shares in community celebrations by providing customized treats for all occasions, such as birthdays, weddings, graduations and more.

The Sugar Bug is open for Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
