Award winning flutist performs at UNR

unnamed-200x300-9343470-6138187Flutist Carmella Cao, the first prize winner in the Reno Chamber Orchestra’s (RCO) 25th annual “College Concerto Competition,” performs Carl Nielsen’s Flute Concerto with Maestro Theodore Kuchar and the RCO at the closing concerts of the 2013-14 season on Saturday, April 26 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. at UNR’s Nightingale Concert Hall.

These concerts also feature Franz Josef Haydn’s dramatic “Lord Nelson” Mass with the University of Nevada, Reno Chamber Singers (Dr. Paul Torkelson, director), as well as Maestro Kuchar’s arrangement of Janacek’s String Quartet after Tolstoy’s “Kreutzer Sonata.”

Miriam Hodgman is originally from San Francisco. She previously was the communications coordinator for the largest hunger-relief organization in Sonoma County, California. She has a bachelor’s degree in American history, with a minor in American Indian studies, from San Francisco State University, and has a master’s degree in public administration from Sonoma State University. She enjoys training a variety of martial arts.
