Pedestrian killed on North Virginia Street

1300123_fff2-9488449-4260405A 36-year-old man crossing North Virginia Street about 10 p.m. yesterday was hit and killed by a car.

The Reno resident was crossing from east to west at the intersection of North Virginia Street and Moraine Way when a northbound 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by a 23-year-old male Reno resident hit him. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The driver of the Mitsubishi remained on the scene of the accident and is cooperating with the investigation. The Reno Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded and took over the investigation, which is ongoing.
