UPDATE: Juvenile arrested in homicide investigation

On October 16, 2013 at about 8:45 pm Officers with the Reno Police Department located a subject wanted in questioning for the stabbing death that occurred on Yori Ave. on October 12, 2013. After speaking with the subject as well as other witnesses, Detectives arrested a 17 year old male juvenile for one count of open murder and robbery with a deadly weapon.

On Oct. 12 at about 4 a.m., Reno Police officers responded to a report of an injured subject in the 2600 block of Yori Avenue.

Arriving officers located a subject suffering from multiple stab wounds and began lifesaving measures. He was transported to a local hospital where he was declared deceased.

The victim was Andrew Amezcua, 20. Information at this time indicates he was involved in an altercation with one or more unidentified suspects. However, the investigation is on-going and the Reno Police Department is requesting anyone with information regarding this stabbing to contact them or Secret Witness.
