All Nevada State Museums are free July 20

NCOT NEWS — All seven Nevada State museums will offer free admission Saturday, July 20, to celebrate newly expanded schedules. Train rides at the railroad museum in Carson City and Boulder City will be half price.

Additional details for Nevada Museums Summer 2013:
· Public invited to Rediscover Your Nevada Museums
· The Division of Museums and History announces additional days and hours of service for the public at all seven museums in the system.
· In celebration of this additional access to Nevada’s heritage, the museums are offering FREE museum admission for adults on Saturday, July 20. (Children ages 17 and younger are always admitted free.) Special ½ price train ride fares will be offered on July 20 at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City.
· Revisit Nevada heritage keeper’s now as they prepare to celebrate the grandest celebration in the State’s history – Nevada 150.
· Many museums will offer special exhibits throughout the summer, an added bonus, showcasing what museums have been working on over the last several years.

Lost City Museum, 721 S. Moapa Valley Blvd., Overton, NV 89040
Museum is open seven days a week from 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. Adult admission is $5.00 per person. Call (702) 397-2193 for information.

East Ely Depot Museum, 1100 Avenue A, Ely, NV 89301
Museum is open Monday through Friday 8:00a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m to 4 p.m. Prices vary and include admission to the Nevada Northern Railway National Landmark.

Nevada State Museum – Las Vegas, 309 S. Valley View Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89107. Museum galleries are open Thursday through Monday from 10:00a.m. to 6:00p.m. Research library is open Thursday, 1p.n. to 6p.m.; Friday from 10:00a.m. to 6:00p.m.; Saturday 1p.m. to 6p.m. Adult admission is $9.95 which includes access to the Las Vegas Springs Preserve. Special exhibit: Flores Familiares: Traditional Embroidery from Southern Mexico is open and available through December 2013. Call (702) 486-5205 for additional information.

Nevada State Railroad Museum, Boulder City, 600 Yucca Street, Boulder City, NV 89005. The museum display pavilion is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Train rides are offered on Saturday & Sunday with departures at 10:00a.m., 11:30a.m., 1:00p.m., and 2:30p.m. Train ride fares vary; call for details, (702) 486-5933.

Nevada State Railroad Museum, Carson City, 2180 S. Carson Street, Carson City, NV 89701. The museum is open Thursday through Monday from 9:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Adult admission is $6.00 per person. The museum offers weekend train rides from 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m, seasonally. Call for details and fares, (775) 687-6953 x 233.

Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson Street, Carson City, NV 89701. The museum is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30a.m. to 4:30pm. Adult admission is $8.00 per person. Several special exhibits available including Nevada Stories, selections of recent acquisitions and Gifts of Healing: French Travel Posters 1945-1949. Historic Coin Press no. 1 operates on the last Friday of the month. Call for schedule, (775) 687-4810.

Nevada Historical Society, 1650 N. Virginia Street, Reno, NV 89503. The museum galleries are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. The research library is open Wednesday through Saturday from Noon to 4:00p.m. Adult admission is $4.00 for the galleries, $5.00 for all-access. The Historical Society will be closed for the following 2013 UNR Wolf Pack home football games: Saturday, September 7; Saturday, September 21; and Saturday, September 28.
