The 2013 Silver and Blue Spring Game will be played Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mackay Stadium. This year’s game – the first for new head coach Brian Polian – will feature a traditional game format with four quarters of action on the turf at Mackay.
The game, which is present by Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, is open to the public and there is no cost. It will also be video-streamed for free at NevadaWolfPack.com.
The Blue team will be mostly made up of the first-team offense and second-team defense and they’ll face-off against a Silver team comprised of the first-team defense and second-team offense. Specialists and a handful of other players will play for both teams. Rosters will be announced on Friday.
“We’re hoping to have a lot of fans in the stands and get some energy going in Mackay,” Polian said. We’re going to pump the music in and we’re going to have some fun.”
The Spring Game will be have game-type feel to it as Polian and his staff are using it to teach what will be the team’s traditional pre-game routine leading up to it. Players will be on the field at Mackay warming up by noon with the game to begin at 1 p.m.
The four-quarter game will have a running clock except for the final two minutes of each half. There will be no kickoffs but other special teams units will be utilized as needed.
After the game, Wolf Pack players and coaches will be available beyond the south stands for autographs and pictures.
