THE DISCOVERY NEWS RELEASE

The_DiscoveryThe Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum (The Discovery) is encouraging community members to support the museum during Nevada’s Big Give, a one-day statewide fundraising effort on Thursday, April 25. The Discovery hopes to earn one of three cash prizes by receiving the highest number of unique donations via its online donation form at www.nvdm.org/biggive.

“Making a donation during Nevada’s Big Give is a great way to support The Discovery,” said Mary O’Brien, development director. “Donations of any size will support the museum’s vision in our community and will also help the museum earn cash prizes being offered to the nonprofit organizations that receive the most support from their community.”

Revenue from admissions and membership sales cover less than half of what it costs to operate the museum annually. Gifts from foundations, corporations and individual donors are crucial to the museum’s efforts to be accessible to the entire community. Donations allow the museum to provide memberships to Truckee Meadows families in need, scholarship participation in the museum’s camps and classes and keep the price of admission affordable.
