PARENT COMMITTEE NEWS RELEASE
Archie Clayton Middle School is hosting the first Annual “Growing Clayton’s Future” spring education fundraiser on Friday, May 10, from 6 to 10 p.m. Held at the Garden Shop Nursery at 3636 Mayberry Dr., Reno, this fun-filled adult event will have live music, dancing, fare from popular Reno food trucks, beverages, raffle prizes and a silent auction.
Among the auction items, there are 30 unique birdhouses built by Clayton students, decorated and signed by local celebrities such as the First Family, Reno and Sparks mayors, local news and radio talent, UNR’s Coach Polin and Twilight Saga star, Peter Facinelli. In addition, there is an impressive array of student artwork available to purchase.
Admission is free and all proceeds directly support Clayton Middle School.
In 2010, with the help of a three-year school improvement grant, Clayton implemented a rigorous, academic academy that prepares students to take high school advanced placement classes, further promoting a college bound focus. With the SIG grant ending this year and continued decreases in state and federal budgets for public education, fundraising efforts are critical to the success of our schools. We are inviting the community to participate in this event to subsidize, in spite of pending financial cutbacks, local support of academics, arts, music, athletics, technology and vocations for students at Archie Clayton Middle School.
