Citizen shoots two loose pit bulls who attacked him and his dog

RPD NEWS — On April 14, 2013 at about 11:52 A.M. Reno Police Officers responded to the area of Moon Dust Ct. and Moon Walk Ct. after several residents in the area called reporting that a dog had been shot.  As the officers arrived on scene they learned that a citizen was jogging with his dog when confronted by 2 vicious Pit Bulls.  1 of the Pit Bulls attacked the jogger’s dog, and when the jogger attempted to assist his dog, the 2nd Pit Bull tried to bite the jogger. The jogger retrieved a concealed handgun, and shot both Pit Bulls.  1 Pit Bull died on scene, and the other was found a short distance later with a gun shot wound. The injured Pit Bull was rushed to a local animal hospital where he was ultimately euthanized.  The Jogger has a valid concealed weapons permit, and no arrests or citations are anticipated.
