Reno police book suspect in Sutro St. death

On Feb. 2 at about 2:30 a.m., Reno police officers responded to the 1700 block of Sutro Street on reports of shots fired.  Arriving officers located a 32-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds who was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was later identified as Merlin Herrald of Elko.
Through witness interviews and investigation, the Reno Police Department developed probable cause for the arrest of suspect Julian Acox in this homicide.
On Feb. 17, Acox arrived at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office after detectives spoke to his family regarding the pending homicide charges.  The suspect was booked into the Washoe County Jail on the warrant for one count of open murder.
