Local entrepreneurs have an opportunity to start a business in 54 hours during the Startup Weekend Reno event Feb. 22-24 at the Southside School, 190 E. Liberty St. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22.

“This is going to be a great opportunity for anyone who wants to build a business but has no solid starting point,” Daniel Herr, Startup Weekend Reno organizer, said. “There will be some brilliant entrepreneurs around to give advice and keep the momentum going.”

On Feb. 22, registered attendees will pitch their business ideas to the group in 60 seconds or less. Ideas typically are for web and mobile applications. The proposals then are voted on, and teams will be created to work on the top ideas.

The weekend is spent making the ideas come to life, supported by a plethora of resources and advice from regional entrepreneurs. Meals and coffee are included in the $99 ticket price. The event ends the evening of Feb. 24, when the results are presented and prizes such as office space, marketing support, and hosting are awarded.
