Diane McCall has been elected president of the Nevada Opera Association. McCall, who lives on Lake Tahoe’s east shore, is the former president of TOCCATA – Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

McCall will be working with Nevada Opera’s artistic and general director Monica Harte, who joined Nevada Opera in January 2012.

“Nevada Opera has been energized under the direction of its new artistic and general director Monica Harte, making it an exciting time to be working with the organization,” McCall said in a press release. “It’s a privilege to help develop Ms. Harte’s vision for Nevada Opera.”

Nevada Opera was founded in 1967 by Harte’s parents, Ted and Deena Puffer. Since 1968, Nevada Opera has produced more than 180 shows and launched the careers of several nationally recognized opera singers, including opera star Dolora Zajick. The Nevada State Legislature passed Resolution No. 66 May 12, 1999 “…honoring Ted and Deena Puffer for sharing their dedication and knowledge to make Nevada Opera a first-class company.”
