The University of Nevada women’s basketball team (3-3, 0-0 MW) will travel to the state of Oregon for a pair of games, beginning with a contest at Portland (1-7, 0-0 West Coast) Friday 7 p.m. at the Chiles Center. The Pilots lead the overall series 2-1, defeating the Wolf Pack 76-46 in the last meeting during the 1998-99 season in Portland. Nevada will close out the road trip against Oregon (0-6, 0-0 Pac 12) Sunday afternoon.
Portland is currently on a five-game losing streak, with its lone victory coming on a 62-56 decision at Idaho on Nov. 16. Seven of the Pilots eight games have been on the road. Sophomore guard Kari Luttinen leads the team at 10.3 ppg.
“We’ve had great practices this week and are looking forward to facing two tough teams that are much better than their records indicate,” head coach Jane Albright said. “We will have to improve defensively to be able to compete in either game and we feel like we have.”
