NV Energy awards $474,000 in statewide grants

image003-4881627-1626815During the third quarter of 2012, the NV Energy Foundation contributed more than $474,000, including multi-year commitments, to nonprofit organizations statewide. Northern Nevada organizations that received grants included the Nevada Discovery Museum, Air Racing Foundation, Boy Scouts of America, Nevada Area Council, Gathering Genius, Inc. – Nevada STEM Coalition and the Access to Healthcare Network. Grants were given to southern Nevada organizations including the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum, Spread the Word Nevada, Southern Nevada Public Television and Vegas PBS, Junior Achievement and Goodie Two Shoes.

Each quarter, the NV Energy Foundation contributes funds to help local nonprofit organizations in northern and southern Nevada. Grants are focused on five philanthropic areas: education, the environment, youth development, arts and multi-cultural outreach and health and human services.
