Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District Lifts Ban on Open Burning Starting Saturday Oct. 27

Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) will lift the ban on open burning beginning Saturday, October 27, 2012.

Residents of the TMFPD will be allowed to burn their yard debris beginning Saturday, October 27 through Wednesday, October 31. Burn season will close as of October 31 with no burning allowed in the District as of November 1, 2012, per requirements of Washoe County Air Quality.

Residents are required to obtain a burn permit from their nearest TMFPD fire station and are required to follow the instructions on the permit for burning. TMFPD cautions all residents to follow the guidelines on the burn permit and to pay close attention to the winds and proximity to structures before burning.
