WASHOE COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

Early voting in Washoe County begins this Saturday, Oct. 20, and continues through Nov. 2. There are 22 early voting locations throughout the community, and a complete list is available at www.washoecounty.us/voters/12EVSchedule.htm.

“People can vote at any of the early voting polling locations, regardless of what precinct they live in,” said Senior Deputy Registrar Luanne Cutler. “Historically, early voting has been very popular, and generally 50 percent or more of the ballots are cast early.”

The county registered an all-time high of 241,400 voters prior to the close of registration this past Tuesday, exceeding the record of 231,400 for the general election in 2008. Washoe County is expected to be one of the most closely contested in the nation for this year’s general election.

Other important dates:

  • Absentee ballots: Oct. 30 is the last day to request an absentee ballot
  • Sample ballots: The final batch of sample ballots was scheduled to be mailed today (for those who registered or made changes to their registration after Oct.  3)
