Nevada’s Stefphon Jefferson named offensive player of the week

The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced its Football Bowl Subdivision National Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN, for games ending September 22.

About the Award: This is the ninth year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Foundation.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
STEFPHON JEFFERSON, NEVADA
Junior, Running Back, Visalia, CA/El Diamante
Nevada junior running back Stefphon Jefferson tied a NCAA record with seven touchdowns as the Wolfpack (3-1) defeated Hawaii, 69-24, in their Mountain West Conference debut.  Jefferson rushed for 170 yards and six scores, while catching three passes for 76 yards, including a 55-yard touchdown reception.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
DESMOND BOZEMAN, WESTERN MICHIGAN
Junior, Linebacker, Fort Lauderdale, FL/Dillard
Western Michigan junior linebacker Desmond Bozeman had a big day as the Broncos (2-2) defeated Connecticut, 30-24.  Bozeman had 12 tackles, two quarterback sacks, forced a fumble and recovered one which he returned 53 yards for a touchdown in the victory.
