The University of Nevada soccer team (4-5-1, 0-0 MW) will open up Mountain West play on the road Friday, facing its consecutive ranked opponent with a match against No. 12 San Diego State (9-1-1, 0-0 MW) at 7 p.m. The Aztecs lead the overall series 2-0, defeating Nevada 3-1 in the previous meeting during the 2003 season in San Diego. The 12th-ranked San Diego State team will be the highest ranked opponent Nevada has faced as a program.
“We are excited to open up conference play Friday night,” head coach Dr. Melissa Price said. “We have been preparing all year for this phase of our season. The teams we have matched up against these past six weeks have been quality opponents and have allowed us to grow as a unit.”
Sunday the Wolf Pack will face its final non-conference opponent, as the team travels to Spokane Wash., to face Gonzaga at 11 a.m. The teams tied their first meeting 1-1 in double overtime during the 2010 season, squaring off at a neutral site in Missoula, Mont.
