CITY OF RENO NEWS RELEASE
The City of Reno is proud to be a sponsor of Expedition Man Endurance Festival, northern Nevada’s first Ultra Distance Triathlon, taking place today, August 25.
The City of Reno’s Special Event Sponsorship Agreement with Expedition Man, Inc., is for sponsorship of city services in the amount not to exceed $6,000. City services provided for the event will improve safety for race participants and motorists in Reno.
Expedition Man, Inc. (EM) produces Expedition Man Endurance Festival. The race begins at Zephyr Cove, over the Sierra Range on Highway 50, down to Carson City, through Reno, ending at Sparks at the Marina. This first-time special event is expected to attract participants and spectators from throughout the region and highlight the beauty that the Truckee Meadows has to offer. So far, approximately 240 athletes have signed up from fifteen different states, three professional athletes, a relay team from Australia, and 5,000 expected spectators throughout the course. Admission for event spectators is free.
The sponsorship is one more example of the City of Reno’s efforts to support special events, public safety, and economic development (Reno City Council Priorities for 2011-2012).
