S.T.A.R.S. (Singers Taking Action Reaching Souls), Souls Afire, and the CSL Reno Choir will combine their extraordinary vocal talents in one fantastic concert for northern Nevada on July 14th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living, 4865 Lakeside Dr. in Reno. Singing everything from Motown to Gershwin to Ave Maria, this ensemble is sure to rock the house.

S.T.A.R.S. is a very unique musical ensemble that tours the world, lighting it up. In the past twelve months, they sold out the Agape Center in Los Angeles, rocked the rafters at the honored United Nations in New York City, brought tears to the congregants of the All Saints Church in Shanghai, and filled a historic music hall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

As Ambassadors of the United States, S.T.A.R.S. aims to bridge the gulf, currently existing between the peoples of the world, with art and song. From the United Nations to Dubai, from Egypt to South Korea, from China to India, the music of S.T.A.R.S. connects us all, casting away any perceived differences in culture, race, age, economic status or nationality.

With an immensely diverse playlist, S.T.A.R.S. sells out venues interpreting Pop, Jazz, Broadway, and R&B covers, while other times breathing new spirit into compelling Inspirational, Gospel, and quartet standards.  A longtime supporter of the Boston Symphony Hall recently said, “They’re as good or better than anything we have at our place, and I’ve been in music my entire life.”  The Vice President of the Shanghai BG Choir said, “The S.T.A.R.S.’ enthusiastic performance was so infectious, that we felt like we were cradled in a sea of melodies, experiencing the pure joy of music from head to toe.”

S.T.A.R.S. was inaugurated by Harvey Fuqua and his wife Carolyne.  Harvey, a founding member of Motown and inductee in the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame, introduced the world to The Moonglows, Marvin Gaye, The Spinners, Jr. Walker, as well as guided Smokey Robinson’s career for decades, to name a few.  S.T.A.R.S. is Harvey’s legacy.

Souls Afire, a 12 piece vocal ensemble and the Center for Spiritual Living Choir, a 50 member choir will open for the S.T.A.R.S. concert.  Souls Afire is a dynamic group singing rich arrangements of traditional and contemporary gospel music.  The CSLR Choir creates a powerful and joyful noise singing from a unique and varied repertoire.  Both groups are accompanied by the awesome CSLR Band.  Souls Afire and the CSLR Choir are also deeply committed to uplifting humanity through song.  Come and join these singers as they raise the roof!

S.T.A.R.S. will shower Reno with Random Acts of Culture during the day on July 14th.  To watch video of recent performances and RACs go to starsfoundation.net/booking.  The July 14th concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living, 4865 Lakeside Drive in Reno.  Ticket prices are $12 for adults and $8 for children and seniors.  For tickets, call CSLR at 826-0566.
