The Reno-Tahoe Open welcomes the return of its “Doctors Supporting Troops” program thanks to local doctors Daniel Rowan of EyeZone, Jason Champagne of Champagne Family Dentistry, Robert Quigley of Sierra Nevada Nephrology, and Renny Uppal of Reno Orthopedic Clinic. Nominations for the second annual program are due June 22, encouraging veterans of all military branches to submit an essay of 500 words or less, or a personal photo taken while serving in the military, with information detailing the importance of the time and why he or she would like a chance to play in the tournament’s coveted Official Pro-Am. The four doctors act as caddies for the day. Winners are announced no later than July 11.

In addition to the opportunity to play in the only PGA TOUR Pro-Am tournament in northern Nevada, selected participants of the “Doctors Supporting Troops” contest also receive overnight accommodations and an invitation to attend the exclusive Pro-Am Pairings Party on Tuesday, July 31, where he or she can participate in a game of chance to select a PGA TOUR player to hit the links with Wednesday at Montrêux Golf & Country Club. Selected veterans also receive two VIP season tickets to the Reno-Tahoe Open and a feature on KRNV News 4 with anchor Bill Frankmore in the weeks leading up to the tournament.
