5k River Run and Walk benefits domestic violence victims

The 5th annual Safe & Healthy Homes 5K River Run and Walk takes place Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 9 a.m. at Idlewild Park, Reno, Nev. The annual event benefits the Committee to Aid Abused Women (CAAW) with $10 from each race entry going directly to the organization with a mission to end family violence. The Washoe County Domestic Violence Task Force holds the annual event as one of its annual fundraisers.

Entry fee is $30 through April 20 and then increase to $35 for race day. Past participants and members of the Silver State Striders receive a $2 discount until April 20. Following the race there will be free food for the participants and live entertainment. Chip timing provided by OrangeSKY Events.

Packet pickup is Friday, April 20 from 4 – 7 p.m. at Eclipse Pizza, located at the corner of Mayberry and McCarran. Pizza discounts will be offered to race participants.
