The Department of Veterans Affairs deployed 20 additional Mobile Vet Centers in the U.S. in January 2012 to increase access to readjustment counseling services for Veterans and their families in rural and underserved communities across the country. One of the 20 new mobile Vet Centers will be based out of Reno.
These Mobile Vet Centers will allow the VA to bring the many services the Vet Centers offer Veterans to all communities.
The customized vehicles are equipped with confidential counseling space and a state of the art communication package. The Mobile Vet Centers can travel to communities to extend the VA’s reach to Veterans, Servicemembers and their families, especially those living in rural or remote communities.
Mobile Vet Centers Travel to Lyon County: Rural Silver Springs, Nevada will be one of the Mobile Vet Center’s first stops. The Mobile Vet Center will be on-hand to offer services to veterans during a Medical Outreach Response Event, or M.O.R.E., on April 13-14, 2012. The MORE event will provide free medical and mental health services and referrals for anyone from the Lyon-Storey-Mineral county region who is under-insured. For more information about the MORE event, please contact Freida Carbery of Healthy Communities Coalition at (775) 230-4210
